Did we make it to spec? Ish. Is it good? Yes, very.

Tasting Notes
Rory: The banana and coffee is a great combo, which I wouldn’t have expected. I didn’t think about it at all making it, because I liked Mr. Black fine when I tried it before, and I love the Giffard Banane, but I’m surprised at how they go together so well. Mr. Black is a dark roast? I drink a lot of very different coffees, but they’re all light, and I’m awful at telling them apart… but Mr. Black tastes nostaligic/familiar/not something I’ve had lately. The depth of it is great here.
I was going to write “it’s a very sparkly drink”, pinpoints of sweet on top of a dark field, but cohuman pointed out we’d left out the Angostura. Adding that and stirring it in, it’s maybe a little rounded off down from sparkly, but there’s a bit more coherency. More like a supergraphic sunset.
We deviated from spec a bit; no idea what Real McCoy rum is like, and we used Mr. Black instead of NOLA, which I haven’t tried, and I’m way too lazy to make my own orgeat again; I fucked it up last time, though I think the Alchemist orgeat is probably close enough since it’s missing the bitter almond flavor. I was also kinda heavy-handed on the banana.
Ryan: Initial reaction from us both was “oh, that’s really good”. This is a very good balance of flavors. At the front, lots of creaminess and tropical fruit flavors, with a few notes from the coffee. The orgeat, pineapple, and banana liqueur are all present here. Later on, I think a few more notes from the rum, some warmth and spiciness. The llinkering taste is a pleasant combination of tropical notes and a lot more coffee. Gennerally just a really good drink. Oh, and we forgot to add the dash of angostura, oops. We stirred that in–it does a good job emphasizing what’s there and melding things together.
